FILTER PHOTOGRAPHY PLATFORM

Our objective is to foster the art of photography by serving as an outlet for exciting new work.

OUR STORY

In 2023 a bunch of us got together over beers (and a mineral water) to ponder the state of photography. What drove us was the realisation that there is so much awesome photographic work out there.

For young and emerging artists, social media is often the only outlet available to reach a larger audience.

Yet the fast-paced space does not serve the medium well. Projects are jumbled together, at the whims of an algorithm. Hurried scrolling runs counter to the contemplative slowness that the appreciation of excellent photography deserves. And the small screen of a mobile phone can't do justice to any type of work anyway.

Thus the idea of a photo zine was born.

OUR EDITORIAL PROCESS

We emphasise the cooperation between photographers and editors. We believe that a thorough edit makes a body of work better.

A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH

We are strong believers in a collaborative approach. We do not want to publish any zine of which we do not believe it is of true interest to viewers. Interest emerges if a photographic project is in itself a discussion between the photographer, the subject and the viewer.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Filter Photography Platform is a non-profit registered in Luxembourg. All support comes from fellow photography enthousiasts like you and is re-invested in the platform – and thus in photography itself. What support, you say?

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Any contribution goes straight to the promotion and distribution of great photography.

TO SUBSCRIBE MEANS TO SUPPORT

Subscriptions enable us to plan ahead – and to make sure that we can keep bringing you some of the best photography out there.

Who we are?

We are a non-profit (A.S.B.L.) registered in Luxembourg. We are Georges, Marc, Patrick, Gilles, Moritz, Dirk, and Olivier.

What is Filter Zine?

Our zine is dedicated to the publication of notable work in street, documentary and fine art photography. We have quality photography at heart and aim to provide a platform for all the brilliant work done by photographers out there.

We aim to publish high quality curated content on actual paper as this is what the medium deserves. There is nothing like a well printed photographic publication to truly dive into a dialogue with the artist without constant distraction from the digital sphere.

Filter photo zine is submission based. We ask photographers to submit their work which will then be assessed internally and feedback will be provided. We believe in the power of a thorough editing process. We hence encourage collaborations between photographers and editors. Alternatively, if a photographer does not have an active collaboration with an editor, the editorial board of Filter photo zine will take over the editing.
